Estimate fair market rates for sponsored content by platform and audience

%

Estimated Rates

Feed Post / Reel$900 – $1,350
Single Post / Carousel$600 – $900
Story / Short-form$180 – $270
Package (post + 3 stories)$1,140 – $1,710

These are estimates based on industry benchmarks. Actual rates vary widely by creator, brand fit, exclusivity, and deliverables. Creators with strong engagement often command above-benchmark rates.

How influencer rates are determined

Influencer pricing is not standardized, but industry benchmarks provide a useful starting point. The most common rule of thumb is $100 per 10,000 followers per post for Instagram static posts — also called the "1% rule" because it reflects roughly 1% of follower count in dollars. A creator with 100,000 followers would benchmark around $1,000 per post. However, this is a floor, not a ceiling — actual rates vary dramatically based on engagement rate, niche, content type, exclusivity, usage rights, and platform.

Engagement rate is more important than follower count

Two creators with 100,000 followers can have radically different actual reach. A creator with 8% engagement rate (8,000 likes + comments per post) reaches a far more active audience than one with 1% engagement (1,000 interactions per post). Engagement rate = (total interactions / total followers) × 100. Good engagement benchmarks: Instagram nano (1K–10K followers): 5–10%. Micro (10K–100K): 3–7%. Macro (100K–1M): 1.5–4%. Mega (1M+): 1–2%. Brands typically prefer high-engagement micro-influencers over low-engagement mega-influencers for conversion-focused campaigns — and micro-influencers cost 5–10x less for comparable engagement volume.

Rate benchmarks by platform and content type

Instagram: static post $100–$2,500+ (nano to macro), story set (3–5 stories) $50–$1,500, reel $150–$5,000+. TikTok: per video $150–$5,000+ (TikTok rates have risen significantly as the platform matured, now often matching or exceeding Instagram for comparable follower counts). YouTube: typically $20–$50 CPM (cost per thousand views) for integrations, or $2,000–$20,000 for dedicated sponsorship videos at mid-tier. Podcast: $15–$50 CPM for host-read ads, with 30-second mid-roll more valuable than pre-roll. Blog/newsletter: flat rates of $200–$5,000+ depending on readership and niche authority.

Usage rights, exclusivity, and whitelisting

Standard rates assume one-time organic posting by the creator. Additional fees apply for: usage rights (permission to repurpose content in your own ads): add 30–100% to base rate. Exclusivity (creator doesn't work with competitors): add 20–50% for 30 days, more for longer. Whitelisting (running paid ads from the creator's account): add 20–50%/month during the period. Extended content rights (using content for 6–12 months): negotiate upfront or expect 2–3x standard rate. Always specify these terms explicitly in the contract — ambiguity over usage rights is the most common source of influencer partnership disputes.
